CHAMPAIGN, IL — U of I Community Credit Union (UICCU) has been voted Best Credit Union in The News-Gazette’s 2026 People’s Choice Awards.
The annual People’s Choice Awards celebrate local businesses and organizations selected by members of the community. Unlike industry awards determined by a panel or professional organization, the People’s Choice recognition is especially meaningful to UICCU because it reflects the voices of the members and communities the credit union serves.
“This recognition means so much to us because it comes directly from the people we serve,” said Lisa Paul, Senior Vice President of Member Experience at UICCU. “Our members took the time to cast their votes and choose U of I Community Credit Union, and that is something our entire team can be incredibly proud of. It reflects the care our employees bring to their work every day and their commitment to doing what is right for our members.”
The award also recognizes the collective efforts of employees throughout UICCU, from team members working directly with members to those supporting the credit union behind the scenes.

It happens because of people who care,” Paul added. “This award belongs to every member of our team who goes above and beyond to find a solution, support a coworker, help a member, or simply make someone’s day a little better. UICCU was recognized alongside other local businesses and organizations as part of The News Gazette’s 2026 People’s Choice Awards celebration in September.
