We understand that a government shutdown can bring financial uncertainty for many of our UICCU members. To help during this time, our Government Shutdown Assistance Program is available to provide short-term financial relief for federal employees, contractors, and others directly affected by the shutdown.

This program is designed to help bridge income gaps and maintain financial stability until normal operations resume. Our goal is to ensure you have the support you need when you need it most. And, don’t forget to visit our Financial Wellness Center for additional information and tools.

Eligibility:
- Be a current member in good standing of UICCU
- Demonstrate direct financial impact from a federal government shutdown, such as:
- Federal government employment (FTE or contractor)
- Verified loss or delay of income due to furlough or contract suspension
- Loss of benefits received previous month (i.e. SNAP)
- Provide documentation (e.g., federal employee ID, pay stub, furlough notice, or equivalent)

1The Financial Assistance Loan (FAL) is available at a 0% interest rate for qualifying members that can demonstrate a direct financial impact from the Federal Government shutdown. Applications may be submitted online or in person. Loan amounts are available for up to one month’s gross paycheck with a maximum term of twelve (12) months, or for one month of lost government assistance benefits with a minimum monthly payment of $25, term will vary. Applicants must provide proof of income dated within the past sixty (60) days or documentation verifying the amount of government assistance benefits lost from the previous month. Members must be in good standing and have an active UICCU membership for at least sixty (60) days prior to applying. The first loan payment will be deferred for ninety (90) days. Existing UICCU loans are not eligible for the FAL program. Loan amounts and terms are determined based on creditworthiness and ability to repay. Not all applicants will qualify for the maximum amount or term, and all loans are subject to credit approval. Only one Financial Assistance Loan may be open at any given time.
