UICCU can help you consolidate your student loans to one single monthly payment, and we might even be able to help you save money by refinancing your loans at a lower rate!

Accounts & Terms

You can consolidate and refinance student loans from $5,000 to $45,000. Both federal and private loans are eligible. The maximum loan term is 15 years, and there’s no prepayment penalty if you’re able to pay it off sooner. We don’t charge any other fees, either.

Payment Options

We offer the option to make interest-only payments during the first 2 years of repayment. If you have a co-signer, you’ll have an option to release them after 36 consecutive, on-time payments.

Eligibility

Age & Citizenship

You must be a U.S. citizen/national or permanent resident with a Social Security number, and you must be a legal adult as defined by the state in which you reside.

Income & Credit

You must have $25,000 in income and reasonable debt-to-income ratio. Eligibility requirements include a satisfactory credit score and at least 5 years of credit history, not including student loans.

Membership

You must be a UICCU member to refinance your student loan with us. If you’re not a member yet, it’s easy to join! Membership offers a variety of benefits in addition to refinancing your loan.

Disclosures

Note: consolidating other student loans may affect or eliminate certain features including deferment options, interest rates, and discounts for automatic payments or a certain number of on-time payments.

*You will be required to review the Application and Solicitation Disclosure prior to submitting an application. The Annual Percentage Rate (APR) you pay is variable and will be determined based on your credit history and creditworthiness. The current APR starting rate will be between 3.59% and 10.59%. The APR is variable and can adjust quarterly based upon the 3 month LIBOR with a margin of 3.25% to 10.25%. The maximum APR will not exceed 18.00%. If the APR increases your monthly payment may be higher. All loans to be consolidated must be a Private Student Loan, Federal Student Loan or Parent Plus Loan and have been issued in the same name and Social Security Number as the individual applying for the consolidation loan. The minimum loan amount is $5,000 and the maximum is $48,000.
